Frequently asked questions....

IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT ON THESE GROUP TOURS?
Our scheduled escorted group tours generally appeal and are designed for those in the 55+ age group. Whilst there is no upper limit in age, regrettably on the scheduled group tours we don't take under 18's.

HOW FIT DO I NEED TO BE?
To fully appreciate the tour a reasonable level of fitness and mobility is required. Whilst there are no strenuous activities, in some places we walk distances on uneven surfaces and climb stairs.

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE ON A TOUR?
We limit the group size to a maximum of 14 guests to ensure a very personal experience for everyone.

DO YOU TAKE SINGLE TRAVELLER'S

Yes we do. One of the best reasons to travel with us is that in a group of 14 nobody feels "left out", on the contrary friendships are fostered and shared memories created.

WHAT SORT OF ACCOMMODATION WILL WE STAY IN?
We stay in a variety of graded, quality accommodation establishments ranging from fine city hotels to remote safari lodges, from charming country estates to luxury houseboats, the idea being to give you a broad African experience.

ARE MEALS INCLUDED?
Full breakfast and dinner is included daily, on many days all meals are included

DO WE TRAVEL IN OVERLANDER TRUCKS?
Definitely not! We use shuttle type vehicles within cities and where access to coaches is restricted or limited.  When travelling longer distances we use comfortable air conditioned coaches. In game reserves we travel on special safari vehicles.

ARE WE GUARANTEED TO SEE WILDLIFE?

As the name implies, the animals are wild so we cannot guarantee sightings. However, we choose to stay in the private Sabi Sands Nature Reserve to maximize your chances of seeing wildlife at close range and without countless other vehicles vying for a space and blocking your view. Similarly, in the Chobe National Park we have exclusive use of two tender boats for game viewing. In the 20 years we have been taking tours to Southern Africa we have yet to have clients disappointed with the wildlife sightings.

DO I NEED A VISA?
Depending on the nationality of the passport you travel on, a visa may be required which will be arranged either in advance or on tour by the Tour Leader.

DO I NEED VACCINATIONS?
We recommend that routine vaccinations such as Covid-19, Tetanus and annual flu shots are up to date and, as we will enter malarial areas, that you take an appropriate prophylactic. You must be guided however by your health professional.

WHAT ABOUT TIPPING?
Tipping is customary in the countries we visit.  The tipping and gratuities are included in the cost of the tour and are taken care of by the Tour Leader whilst participating in the group activities.
